文章摘要：We explore the relationship between R&D activity and CEO power over the 1992–2013 period. Instead of using CEO overconfidence to gauge CEO power as previous research, we utilize the ratio of CEO salary to company assets to quantitatively represent CEO power. We find that although CEO power increases absolute R&D spending, it decreases the R&D-to-assets ratio and deteriorates R&D quality for raised average patent cost and reduced patent citation number.
